I suppose I should apologise for the long wait for a Blog update…..
… it hasn’t been because I have been low, or because I was still struggling to feel seasonal.
The truth is far more boring – I have been working too hard.
A couple of large projects with work that have taken up every second of my time & thoughts – but have thankfully come to an end just in time.
Being busy isn’t all that good for me…mainly because of the un-required stress…but also the eating of Imogen friendly “superfoods” that the family had adopted for so long fell out the window….apart from my green tea I actually went 4 days without consuming anything green! Food when we had it was hurriedly eaten, cuddles were brief, tempers frayed, bags under eyes looking bigger than the eyes themselves.
BUT…..I haven’t thought about Melanoma once…well…my melanoma…many other Melanoma friends are having a harder time, having been given bad news or even worse, their families are picking up the pieces following a loss. Some have had long journeys & others have had speedy downward spirals. There doesn’t seem to be a pattern & it has weighed heavily on my soul that one day I will be amongst their ranks.
My Christmas vibe is kicking in. My parents are over visiting. The little people are beyond excited. Apart from a few bits & bobs the Christmas Shopping is done, the house tidied & decorated…..we are ready!
I am ready.
I can’t wait……ok….this isn’t my normal festive fizzle of “yippee it’s Christmas”….it is more “thank God I get 2 weeks off work!”
I am ready to party, to spend time relaxing with friends and family, to give my special little people gifts that will make their eyes sparkle and their faces will light up with smiles. (even though Santa gets all the credit!)
I have every intention of sleeping through at least 1 night without waking.
I will drink lots of red wine because it is good for my body & good for my soul!
I will make every minute of my First Christmas with Melanoma count.
The first of MANY.
Christmas Greetings to you & your family. I hope that it is filled with happiness, laughter and wonderful company.
