I am an extremely lucky lady.
I casually mention on here my requirement for matching sets of lingerie given that my Melanoma diagnosis means I have to frequently strip off to my smalls, The Mr, who is not (bless him) renowned for listening to my babbling, generously gave me not 1 but 2 matching sets for Christmas!
They are lovely, fit perfectly and look great on….however….they pose a dilemma.
A sort of decorum style dilemma……I am after all attending hospital appointments to see doctors…so based upon the “where”, one needs to consider aspects like how see through or lacy they are,…the colour of said matching undies, & whether a thong is appropriate or verging on cruelty.
This taken into consideration = Shopping trip…
….I tried a shopping with the Little People… “I like these boobie keeper safers mummy!”…and “those pants are huge mummy!”… the 1 liners had half the store in hysterics! The comedic genius of youth!
Matching underwear sorted, washed, groomed, moisturised & attired with suitable clothing (eg…doesn’t take much time to take off), & The Mr & I head off to Churchill Hospital Oxford for an appointment at Dermatology.
The last time I saw Dermatology was the time The Man & Mr Wobble had me (& in turn you) in stitches….your stitches stayed in the laughter variety – I left with a couple of stitches after they removed a couple of Moles that turned out to be benign.
So I was expecting much the same….an examination and then quite possibly the removal of a mole or two….I even had a couple of moles that were bothering me to point out, including one on my torso that had been itching which I understood to be another sign of a mole that should be removed.
I met first with a Plastic Surgery registrar called Dr Sawyer who read my notes, discussed my case, checked my lymph nodes & then visually examined my moles. I can only assume the reason I met with Plastic Surgery was so they could check my back scar again – which he did & said it was healing well.
He also spent an inordinate amount of time feeling the nodes on & around my neck & since then I have neck paranoia…could he feel something?…I should have asked at the time….
He/we discussed removing 2 from on my back, that are just below my big scar & the itchy one on my front. He asked if I had seen Dr Oliver Cassell (The Surgeon) since my operation…no….& so off he went…into a room down the corridor.
5 minutes later Dr Sawyer returns with The Surgeon. A 2nd opinion on the removal of the moles.
OK…top back off & Dr Sawyer starts to point out the various offending items to The Surgeon.
The Surgeon & Dr Sawyer discuss the back scar…and then with dermatascope in hand they turn to the itchy mole on my torso…”it’s that one there in the fold” says Dr Sawyer!!! I honestly didn’t pay any attention to said comment at the time – I was too busy holding my tummy in whilst having 2 plastic surgeons 6 inches from my middle…however The Mr heard & we did have a good chuckle about it on the way home….what a way to get a nick name…Dr Sawyer has now become Dr Fold!
Anyway – the result of the appointment…the itchy mole on my tummy stays…the 2 on my back get to come off….in a few weeks time.
